You may have heard recently that Battlefield: Bad Company will ask for more money to unlock special weapons (already on the disk). This was obviously very unpopular and the issue dominated discussion of the game across the internet.

Because of this backlash, EA have decided to abandon the option to pay for the stuff, instead it will be unlocked upon reaching a certain 'rank' within the game. The special edition of the game will have it unlocked from the start, as before.

EA claim that it will not unbalance the game. Battlefield Bad Company is coming out some time in the summer, and you are no longer forbidden from buying it.

Was a bit stupid to do it in the first place.

Doesn't surprise me though after legions of internet folk swore to boycott the game because of it. Just goes to show a bunch of angry gamers can make a difference.

And fate is setting up the chessboard while death rolls out the dice. Anyone for tennis, wouldn't that be nice?
