After months of false alarms and crying of wolf, the real actual Freeloader for the Wii seems to be here at last. Datel are taking orders for the new version of the disc which supposedly allows any region game to be loaded on any Wii console.
The famous boot disc which allowed games of all regions to boot on any region of Gamecube, without also circumventing copy-protection (meaning it was legal) was very popular in its day and without an equivalent on either the Playstation 2 or Xbox.
But wait! Before you surrender your ten pounds, there are potential problems which Datel do not address on their website. Firstly, it is possible that Nintendo, out of the kindness of their hearts, 'fix' this 'issue' in a firmware update. Another concern is that since new games periodically include firmware updates on the discs themselves, problems could occur when the wrong updates attempt to install from a game from a different region. So it's probably wise to hang on for a bit for a few brave souls to test the waters.
