The most epic, action packed feature of them all is back by popular subconscious demand! And this time not only is stuff coming out that's worth mentioning, but most of it is on the Wii! Have you got one of those? I haven't but I might soon at this rate!
All on Nintendo platforms this Friday, mostly games that should have come out at Christmas but failed due to traditional Nintendo platform regional delay syndrome.
Of greatest note is Zack and Wiki: Quest for Barbaro's Treasures, an original action adventure from Capcom which has been receiving a lot of positive attention and may well be worth a punt.
This is followed by NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams, a reasonable game by all accounts, but marred excruciatingly by dubious attempts at variation and the kind of total misplaced cutscene nostalgia-rape only Sonic Team are capable of. As a huge fan (though admittedly late coming) of the old game, I'm going to steer clear of it and have myself down for a copy of the PS2 update due out in February (Japan only, forever). It will suit the notch-free PS2 sticks and seems pretty definitive.
Also from Sayga, also on the Wii, is a home version of Ghost Squad, an unremarkable arcade light gun game that redeems itself to an extent with a lower-than-usual-but-not-exactly-what-I-call-a-bargain RRP.
If you love chess but have lost some of the pieces, you could buy Nintendo's self-explanatory Wii Chess. It can't be long before Wii Ouija, complete with sanity effects ripped from Eternal Darkness.
And finally we have Geometry Wars Galaxies for both DS and Wii. The DS version seems to be the favourite, and being portable gives it more of an edge over the £3.50 XBLA version.Geometry Wars: Galaxies (Wii, DS)
Ghost Squad (Wii)
Zack and Wiki: Quest for Barbaro's Treasures (Wii)
NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams (Wii)
Balls of Fury (Wii)
Wii Chess (Wii)
