This is the first issue of the Xbox 360 demos round-up. I hope to make one of these on a weekly basis, and in them I will be listing the demos released that week, as well as a little review for some that I chose to play (I'm very discerning see )

Stuntman: Ignition
Stuntman: Ignition certainly makes you feel amazing
The original Stuntman game was not bought in droves. While it was a fantastic game, the learning curve was insane. This new version of the game, with a brand new developer, has been tamed down for the benefit of most players. You now have strikes, so if you fail a certain objective you get a strike but can still continue with the level. The demo gives you 3 levels to choose from, 2 from a disaster movie and one mimicking a James Bond style scene on ice. They vary a little in difficulty, but you should be able to complete all 3 after several attempts. But even though they are not hugely difficult to do, you may only get a very low score. The game succeeds in giving an extra challenge to better players. You can keep a combo going by doing certain things such as driving close to cars, walls etc, and this gets your score very high. The maximum ranking can only be attained by combo'ing an entire level! This is a must download. It'll set your HD back 600mb.

Blue Dragon
Blue Dragon's visuals are truly top notch
Blue Dragon is a Japanese RPG partly created by the originator of the Final Fantasy series, Hironobu Sakaguchi. And it shows. Turn based battles with bizarre enemies and over the top special moves await as you travel around an extremely colourful and vibrant world. It isn't my cup a' tea at all, I'd rather play a game like Oblivion, but for those of you who like this type of game, it'll surely prove to be enjoyable. The demo will set your HD back 1.1gb and lets you play in 2 different areas, showcasing various aspects of the gameplay and some fabulous cutscenes. Blue Dragon was received phenomenally well in Japan, with thousands buying the 360 for the game. Whether it will do so well over here remains to be seen, but with the success of games like Final Fantasy, I can't see it being anything other than a huge title.

The Darkness
Gratuitous violence ahoy!
If you're up for a bit of gratuitous violence this week, you can't go far wrong with The Darkness. The Darkness is a gangster styled FPS with a difference, you soon find out you've inherited some rather funky demonic powers. The demo lets you play about in 3 different levels, ranging from a cool car cutscene, to a cemetery where you discover your powers and a more standard level. By the 3rd level, you have several powers under your belt. The first is that you can use one of the demonic "heads" to sneak up on enemies and bite their heads off with a satisfying display of blood and gore. You can also use "demon arm" which lets you grab all manner of objects like crates, people and even cars. Moving them is a little odd however, but it's fun all the same. You can also summon creatures from the underworld by holding the left bumper and selecting a type (gunner, kamikaze or berserker) while pointing at one of the very obvious glowing holes in the ground.

The catch is that your powers only work when the Darkness is charged up. You do this by standing in light areas, so be ready to smash at any lights you see, as when you're in the dark you're basically invulnerable. The demo will set you back a rather large 1.3gb. Recommended.

The water looks pretty in Blue Dragon.

What is life? But a small victory over what eventually kills you anyway?

If my 360 dies outside warranty I'll gut it and use it to incubate ostrich eggs.

It does indeed. Too bad there's no gameplay to speak of and pretty much everything else about the game seems lower than sub-par...

LOADS of demos recently, conveniently whilst my 360 is away. There was Ace Combat 6 as well.

Oh yeah forgot about that. I'll write something about that since I played it. Don't like it much though. Just a case of fly around to face your enemies and fire a missile. Graphically though, from fairly high up it's almost photo-realistic.

All flying games are like that, for the suck.
