According to an enthusiastic post by Brian Blessed on the Consolevania news blog, the BBC have agreed to continue the TV series that Consolevania spawned for a 3rd innings.

The format will change yet again, and is really quite significant. No fewer than 18 weekly episodes of 10-12 minutes each, and three half-hour specials, one of which will be dedicated to an award ceremony.

The short weekly episodes will only be available online, but this time will be on the national part of the BBC site rather than the BBC Scotland section. The longer episodes will stay on BBC Scotland however, both broadcast and online.

The creators had always argued that the programmes might as well be online-only given the internet-based audience, and being broadcast only in Scotland has always been a problem. Also, the length of the 21 episode series will allow much more sustained coverage of releases. Therefore this new format seems like quite a step forward.

No information has been given yet regarding dates or time-slots. You can follow any updates at the Consolevania website.

Hmm... I'm really glad they're making a new series but the change of format doesn't sound too great. Only 10-12 minutes long, and only 3 episodes being shown on TV? I know most people just watched them online anyway, but now there's practically no chance of it reaching anyone who doesn't already know about it...

I don't really care, the beauty of CV and to a lesser extent vG is how massively inaccessible they are.

Touché. The best bit is how Americans can't understand a word of it ;3

I just wish my broadband had more than a three gig download limit, which, as big as it seems, is pretty shit when you've got an entire, pretty teched up, family, downloading, chatting, watching and browsing, sometimes at the same time, it goes pretty fast.

3gb download limit is absurd.
