Let's play Diablo 2!

Who has it? You can still buy it!

Expansion pack = 800x600 = less eye cancer

It's actualy sitting beside me right now, trying to sort out patching it to get it to work though.

Don't have the expansion pack though.

Way ahead of you. I've been Necromancering it up a bit today. I actually just downloaded it, but I used to own it, and the expansion pack, so it's not really stealing... =D

And yeah, 800 x 600 looks so much better... I was expecting it to look really weird since I've got a widescreen monitor now, but it looks fine...

I never did actually play online... What do you do exactly?

The online play is fantastic, its more or less the normal game, but you can go through it as a group. I'll download it, although will I still be able to go on battle-net?

Also, what version are we on now, patchwise?

Eh, might just go out and buy the thing. Such quality.

v1.12a

I used to have it. I've downloaded it but I doubt it will work online. Going to try and get the Gold pack if I can find it in Paris, it's on the fnac site at least.

It's a filthy rip-off on Blizzard's DD site, as if the Gold version hasn't been everywhere for £10-15 for years.

Yeah, mine just crashes completely if I try to go online... I feel like I'm playing in a party anyway though, since I have 3 skeletons and a clay golem running around after me. It's just sort of an... Undead party that doesn't talk much

Necromancers suck man. Well I might invest in this game, or at least download the first, and invest in the expansion. I'd love some online noob bashing battlenet action. Its been so long.

I think with diablo 3 coming out, we should see a bit of an online boost.

Wow. This is excellent. I played for 3 hours before I noticed that the framerate was absolutely atrocious and I needed to run it with DirectDraw.

Annoyingly though, even with the latest patch claiming to let you run without the CD, it still asks...

I had to copy over the music file from the play cd into the folder to stop it asking for the disk.

For users that originally performed a 'Full Installation'

and wish to run without the CD, all '.MPQ' files should

be copied from the Diablo 2 CDs to the Diablo 2 directory.

Most users will only need to copy D2Music.mpq from the

Diablo 2 Play CD and/or D2xMusic.mpq from the Lord of

Destruction CD. Mac users will need to copy these music

files and rename them to 'Diablo II Music' and

'Diablo II Expansion Music' respectively.

Anyone who did not perform a 'Full Installation' will need

to re-install from CD again to ultimately play without the CD.

In this case, a 'Full Installation' is required, followed by file

copy step noted above.

For some reason I'm finding it a hell of a lot more fun than I did the last time. I eventually got bored of it when I first played it years ago, but I can see myself actually completing it this time. Maybe it's because I'm absolutely slaughtering everything and my health regenerates almost as fast as I get hurt and such...

Yeah I found those instructions in the end, cheers.

Same here, I think I was probably playing it partially wrong when I had it years ago, I remember a LOT more clicking. I think I got to act II and that's about it.

Hay guize get online! I'm stuck on this laptop for a month and need some skeleton clicking company. I got the French gold pack for 15EUR, but they only seem to do them separately in the UK...

I'll get it next time I'm near a game shop.
