That's the one I want! Cunt! Can you get it on their site?

Edit: No you can't. Wank. The cheapest I can find it for is £9.99 (delivered) on Play.com. Which is a decent price. Tell me- does it have a 60Hz mode? If so, I'm having it.

Only the XBox Version for 98p (out of stock).

Edit: Nah, doesn't have a 60Hz mode as far as I can see.

Yeah, I noticed. I don't even have my Xbox set up anymore though, so I'd get the PS2 one.

£24.99 is quite a lot just Geometry Wars Waves.
This is madness! The power of Geometry transcends petty boundaries such as your 'money'!

Look real hard. Go in Options and Display settings and that and have a proper look.

Crap. How bad is the 50Hz? Are there any borders?

Why would there be borders? And if there were borders why would they not be there in 60Hz mode?

To be honest I never noticed any difference between 50 and 60 Hz... The only reason I notice on my TV is because my TV's so old/weird/broken that it spontaneously goes widescreen when I put it in 60Hz... Which I prefer for some reason

Dear lord...

Okay, I'll just try and sum it up for you. PAL draws 625 lines. NTSC draws 525 lines. PAL is higher resolution. PAL refreshes at 50fps, while NTSC refreshes at 60fps. NTSC has a higher framerate. PAL refreshes two lines at a time, cascading down the screen. NTSC refreshes the whole screen at once. PAL results in flicker, NTSC does not.

For most applications- PAL is superior. For gaming however, the extra lines of resolution are often not used, resulting in a 'letterboxed' image (the borders I was talking about). And we have often suffered a very poor conversions, resulting in a 17% slower game, even if the original NTSC game only rendered at 30fps.

60Hz mode restores such games to their full screen, full speed, non-flicker glory. Capiché?

I see... I don't remember ever playing a game that had borders though... Must just be a PS2 thing

Try playing sonic mega collection on 50htz then change to 60 and you can feel the diffrence.
Now go back and play sonic on the megadrive and you can get the full 50htz experience with gigantic windscreen like borders aswell as the slow motion.

Alot of games are optimised for 50htz these days though, I never really noticed any difference in when changing the htz in things like WindWaker or Battalion Wars apart from it being less flickery in 60.

The vast majority of PAL games are bordered, and unoptimized.

Hitman Triple Pack (Silent Assassin, Contracts and Blood Money)

PC Version: £9.99 from Play.com

PS2 Version: £17.97 from Woolworths

3 great games for a good price. No bonus features or anything, but damn it these games are good (unlike the movie)

Not Contracts. Half the levels are lifted from the original, changed only slightly but enough to take away, rather than add to, their atmospheres. Like the classic Hong Kong level where you take a lift up to the top of the building and snipe the Triad member. Simple but beautiful, my favourite level from Hitman 1. But they ruined it with the rain in Contracts.

That's because most games nowadays run the graphics and update code in different threads, which is why even with a choppy frame rate the gameplay still moves along at the exact same speed since very few games actually tax the cpu at all...

Fable: Lost Chapters, brand new, £5 from GAME. Bit of a disappointing game, but a good one nonetheless.

Also, Gamestation seem to have a ridiculous amount of preowned classic PS2 and Xbox games in their 4 for £20 thing. Probably worth looking through for some old stuff you meant to play but never got round to.

Roger's Profanisaurus IV: The Magna Farta - £4.99 with free delivery.

This is the latest edition of the greatest book in the world. Highly recommended. Here's a few choice extracts-

funderwear n. Erotic but impractical lingerie. Purchased at great psychological expense by red-faced husbands, only to be returned to the shop the next day by thunder-faced wives. Gash garnish, any clothing bought from Ann Summers.

interior decorating n. Slapping a bit of white emulsion about the womb using the naughty paintbrush.

Aberdare tic-tac n. An anabolic steroid tablet, after the South Wales town where every young man between the ages of nineteen and twenty-four eats them like sweets.

access time 1. n. In computing, the time taken between requesting and receiving data. 2. n. In foreplay, the time taken for a woman's blip tap to produce sufficient moip to allow a gentleman to penetrate her smoothly without feeling like he is scraping his giggling stick on the Great Barrier Reef.

Cheers, might get that. I've been playing it a bit and liking it but it crashes on my R4 at random points.

That might just be the game to be honest. I bought it, and it took me about a week to beat one of the bosses because every time it was looking like I was actually going to survive the game would crash.

Homosexual, indeed. Incidentally- Grumbler, can you not use the word homosexual in a negative context, as it offends our gay members, and we've gotten some complaints mate. Cheers.

I know. I've informed him that sometimes using the word 'gay' as a term of disapproval does not make you homosexual, but he is adamant and will not abide it. So, all the same, could you cut it out mate? The amount of mod alerts- you wouldn't believe.
